Continuing from our latest blog, on the many beachside properties that are found along the New Golden Mile, located between the town of San Pedro de Alcántara and the city of Estepona. The main coastal road N-340 is the division that is commonly known and referred to when dividing the The Golden Mile area, from “beachside” to “mountainside” when searching for property. “A mountainside property” doesn’t refer to a property far up the hills and a long drive from the beach, but, to properties that are just the opposite side of the N-340, many positioned in golfing areas or established residential areas that typically offer beautiful open views down to the sea, a relaxed setting and affording that little more of tranquility than some of the very busy beachside areas during the higher seasons.
Mountainside of the coastal road is very green, with multiple well known golf courses and resorts, hotels and all amenities and services as well as public transport. Types of properties that can be found in these areas include:
A variety of villas, some brand new and extremely modern in style to the classical luxurious estates set on good sized plots with beautiful mature tropical gardens.
Residential apartment complexes, some new and older and many modernized, the majority within gated and secure communities, with wonderful views and charming gardens, swimming pool areas and some with spas and or gymnasiums.
Townhouses or semi-detached properties are also found along the New Golden Mile, some with low community fees due to each owner maintaining their own private garden and others with hotel style communal areas, gardens and swimming pools to be enjoyed by all.
Beginning just after the town of San Pedro and past Guadalmina going north west to the area along the Benahavís Road leading to the town of Benahavís. This whitewashed village is inhabited by many foreigners due to its picturesque architectural style and traditional village lifestyle, here we find a great mix of property types for all budgets as well as the Grand Hotel Benahavís which is a 5*hotel with full spa.
Atalaya Golf & Country Club
A 36-hole golf course in a tranquil setting. The first 18-hole golf course designed in 1968 with named the Atalaya Old Course an exciting course of rapid greens and scenic views. The Atalaya New Course created in 1990, an 18-hole challenging course for the most demanding professionals. Properties found in this area include established and spacious independent villas, as well as a large selection of brand new modern apartment complexes built in recent years making this area extremely up and coming for both permanent residences and holiday homes, with a School and well known Spanish supermarket chain within the vicinity.
La Alqueria Golf
A stunning gated community below the AP-7 highway, with luxury modern villas wrapping around the golf course, offering frontline properties with wonderful views across the golf to the sea.
Diana Park
Just off the N-340 going west from the Benahavís road, this area is well known for its commercial shopping center with all amenities and facilities as well as public transport. Established apartment and townhouse complexes are found within close proximity of the shopping center and further afar are independent villas, this area is an extremely popular residential area with schools nearby as well as being a few minutes away from the beaches.
El Campanario & Cortijo del Mar
A few minutes’ walk from Diana Park, this area offers 2 main complexes: El Campanario, a stylish apartment complex in a Mediterranea n style with exuberant tropical gardens and swimming pools. Cortijo del Mar offering a charming multicolored complex of apartments and townhouse as well as a resort with restaurant and pool.
El Paraiso Alto
El Paraiso is one of the most established areas along the Costa Del Sol, a green valley with a stunning golf course designed in 1973 set in the middle, with views to both the sea and mountains from most properties as well as the golf. Properties in this area range from traditional villas frontline to the golf on good sized plots, to a well-known gated community of villas, townhouses and apartments as well as a few older and very ample townhouse communities built nearby the 4* hotel TRH Paraiso on the top of the hill. Amenities and facilities all nearby adjacent to the N-340 in the area of Benavista.
Benavista
Benavista is a popular residential and commercial area parallel to the N-340, offering all services and amenities including restaurants, shops, banks and more. Extremely popular with the Norther European clientele with multiple apartment and townhouse complexes to choose from. A bowling green and tennis courts are also found in this area.
Bel Air
A tranquil area that has become fashionable again due to the many new services that have been built in the area, including a few well known supermarkets and small commercial area. Bel Air offers a mix of independent villas to established townhouse complexes and modern apartments. A short distance to the beach and to the north connecting with the area of El Paraiso.
