Countdown to Christmas in Marbella

Yes, Christmas is on its way! Like all events on the calendar, Marbella celebrates the arrival of Christmas with style, luxury and enthusiasm, accompanied by cooler but not cold temperatures, the Countdown to Christmas in Marbella is not to be missed.

With many events and activities to enjoy throughout December, Marbella welcomes visitors to celebrate the run-up to Christmas. Offering the official Christmas Light Switch-ons, unique seasonal events, markets and much more…

Christmas Lights

This year the countdown begins this week with Christmas lights being turned on in many towns and cities along the coast:

Marbella Will offer a 20-meter-tall walk-through artificial Christmas tree and will be accompanied by matching decorations along the Avenida Del Mar and lights throughout the city.

San Pedro This year offers a 12 meters high “cathedral” of lights in the center of the town as well as its beautiful Boulevard illuminations.

Fuengirola From 29tH November till 6th January Switching-on at 7.30pm, this year being a Giant illuminated Christmas ball with light and sound display as well as carols. Daily evening events.

Estepona Artificial snow forms part of Esteponas celebrations with the lights switched on 22nd November in Plaza Antonia Guerrero. The highlight of the towns program will be on the 21st December with Father Christmas’ visit, accompanied by 3 artificial snow showers at 7,8 and 9pm.

Malaga Christmas lights are said to be 2nd best in Spain, with a Light show of 10.000 light beams accompanied by music, for a few years now this light spectacle has become more popular and magical. The official “Switch-on” is 29th November at 6.30pm and located on Calle Larios (the popular pedestrian shopping road in the town center). This event continues throughout the Christmas season with multiple daily shows and a giant Christmas tree in the Plaza de la Constitucion. A truly magical Christmas experience!

The Marbella town hall Parks and Gardens division is embellishing the city with 30.000 Poinsettia plants and other Christmas species. Planting in the public squares, avenues, in the town center and of course in all the neighborhoods’ creating attractive, welcoming and sustainable areas.

Christmas Events

Marbella towns Christmas and Three Kings program for 2019-2020 boasts over 50 activities and entertainment for all ages, including children’s parties, mini Christmas bell wringing groups, traditional foods; artisanal chocolates, drinks and sweets as well as around 10 groups of traditional “zambomba” playing musical groups.

San Pedro towns Christmas and Three Kings program for 2019-2020 offers more than 30 activities and shows aimed for families and children, concentrating especially on children and bringing the Christmas spirit to the streets of San Pedro.

Christmas Markets

06/12- “Pinares de Elviria” – This market is located in the shopping area of Elviria and will take place during the weekend with plenty of stalls, activities, concerts and a visit from Santa.

08/12 – “La Virginia” – Located in the quaint setting of the La Virginia community, just up from the Copper Tower at the entrance to Marbella town center. Residents open their homes and serve food and drinks, a daylong event, with artisanal products and hand crafts made by many local artists.

08/12 – “Buchinger Wilhelmi Christmas Bazaar” – Located in the Buchinger Clinic, Cascada Camojan. A traditional Christmas Bazaar offering a wide selection of art, crafts, organic foods, books and information on health and wellbeing, accompanied by live music and healthy beverages.

Puerto Banus Christmas market is located in Plaza Antonio Banderas, just next to our main office; Marbella Unique Properties, C/Jesus Puente Local 25. Starting around the 3rd week in December running till the 6th January, open from 11am till 6pm.

Fuengirola’s Christmas market is ideally located in the Plaza de la Constitucion in the heart of the town, with charming “hut” style stalls open throughout the month of December. Take a walk through the streets to the town hall where they display their annual “Nativity Scene”, best seen at night when the street lights are on.

Malaga has a wonderful Christmas Fair also running throughout the month of December, located down the Paseo del Parque in the city center, here you can find all kinds of decorations and hand crafts, especially the traditional statues and accessories needed to create the “Nativity scene” at home.
