A gourmet day on The Golden Mile
Our gastronomical tour around the most prestigious neighborhoods of the Costa del Sol is slowly coming to an end as we have reached our final destination – a privileged area unofficially named The Golden Mile: a few kilometers long stretching from the western end of Marbella town to Puerto Banús, set between the dramatic mountains and the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. The Golden Mile was predestined to be an exclusive spot since the first luxurious hotels were built here during 60’, such as The Marbella Club Hotel and Puente Romano Hotel. The area is now completely developed and boasts luxurious residential complexes, extravagant villas worth millions of euros, designer boutiques, golf courses and beach clubs enjoyed by the high net worth international community.
The Uniqueness and exclusivity of The Golden Mile is also reflected in its vibrant and varied food scene: cosmopolitan bistros, health food cafés, authentic Spanish restaurants, tapas bars, international cuisines etc… High density and diversity of choice alongside an enviable climate make it an ideal place to enjoy a Gourmet day out. Have you ever dreamed of spending one whole day eating out? We imagine any foodie would love it: every part of the daily menu, from breakfast, till late night cocktails enjoyed in a different gastro venue – one whole day indulging in culinary pleasures.
Marbella Unique Properties are happy to present a list of “must try places’’ on The Golden mile to inspire a Gourmet day on The Golden Mile or just a meal any time of the day.
SMOOTHIES
Organic Market & Food is open from the early hours and is the best place to kick start your gourmet day in a light and healthy way with fresh, vitamins packed smoothies. As the name already suggests, it is not only a place where you can have your vegan friendly, raw, sugar free or gluten free breakfast, lunch or cake treat but you can also shop for organic groceries.
BREAKFAST/ COFFEE & CAKE/ BRUNCH
Located just few minutes walking from Organic, located in the middle between the mountains and the sea is Pan y Mermelada. Here you will find everything you ever wanted to eat for breakfast and more: Fruit, oatmeal, granola, many versions of eggs, bacon, bagels, pancakes…they have it all. You can also go for a coffee & cake, brunch or lunch. Unique interior features such as a brick wall, bookshelves and fresh flowers gives it a charming, cozy atmosphere that invites you to stay longer.
LUNCH
It is impossible to suggest just one place for lunch. If you have an appetite for meat you will love La Cabaña de Nagueles, a small and always busy Argentinian restaurant, which offers excellent meat cooked on an open grill: fantastic steaks, lamp, chicken etc… to be accompanied by salads and wine in an informal, friendly and homely atmosphere. If you fancy a lighter fish based lunch than we would highly recommend the restaurant Lobito del mar. Part of the “Grupo Dani Garcia” brand with the first Andalusian two Michelin stars chef Dani Garcia. Marketed as beach less, urban chiringuito, this is the most affordable of Dani´s concepts with separate bar and restaurant areas with independent menus – an informal tapas bar menu and more formal seafood, shellfish and rice dishes restaurant menu. This restaurant is surprisingly pleasant and not at all intimidating. Treatment of the staff, the interior design, everything there is inviting and makes you feel at ease.
SNACK/ COFFEE & CAKE/ TAPAS
A best example of the “The Golden Mile lifestyle” is the restaurant Sea grill. The restaurant is part of The Puente Romano Beach resort, located right next to one of the hotel pools and overlooks the beach and sea. It offers an amazing seafood lunch buffet and an exclusive dining experience. There is also a snack service available from 11am between main meals, with breathtaking surroundings, views and décor, to be visited at any time of the day and have a glimpse into the luxurious facet of The Golden Mile lifestyle.
DINNER
One of the most amazing characteristics of The Golden Mile is the possibility to completely change environment within a short walk. You can switch from an afternoons “happy hour” on the sunny beach to dinner in La Virginia – one of the first residential complexes in Marbella designed to re-create an Andalusian village, with narrow cobbled streets with shade, patios and fountains. La Virginia hides two boutique gastronomic treasures; restaurants La Virginia and La Tienda. They both offer a typical Marbella summers evening dining on a beautiful patio in a romantic setting with French influenced menus.
COCKTAILS AND DRINKS
Marbellas’ nights are endless and there is always time for a late glass of wine or a cocktail. Victors’ beach a chiringuito in a wonderful beach setting, open all year round, offering seafood and cocktails but is most famous for its ambience and live music entertainment appreciated by its long standing clientele.
